ICT Excellence Award for Software as a Service 2010

DPS International Limited beat off stiff competition to win the coveted Software as a Service title at this year's ICT Excellence Awards and is celebrating as the first ever winner of this award, as the category is brand new for this year's Awards.
Overall winners at the 2007 ICT Excellence Awards, the company, which currently employs 35 people at its head office in Halesowen, won this year's award for its vehicle scheduling software, logixcentral, the only web-based, 'on-demand', pay-as-you-use vehicle routing and scheduling system available worldwide.
The Software as a Service title was presented to DPS International Limited by sponsor Digital KTN at a prestigious evening awards ceremony following the annual ICT Conference, organised by the ICT Cluster, on 25th November at the National Motorcycle Museum in Bickenhill, Solihull.
The Judges on the panel for this award have said:-
"This category contained entries of extremely high standard and the selection was very difficult. The company diversified from being a logistics company into the development of an IT based logistics management system which was one of the original SaaS products, and for which they won an ICT Excellence Award for Innovation in 2007. Rather than rest on their laurels they have continued development and marketing of their product. The panel were impressed by the company's commitment to the development and retraining of its staff. The company maintains a focus on the development of the software which includes development of real time routing and scheduling. The winner in this category is DPS International."
Paul Palmer, CEO and founder of DPS, said:-
"Winning this award is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of our staff, and recognition for the excellent work we do. We entered the ICT Excellence Awards because we are proud to be associated with the ICT Cluster within the West Midlands and are proud of being a West Midlands based company. To have won this award shows that the ICT panel have recognised that our product/service stands out from the crowd for being unique and among one of the best models of software deployed over the internet."

The judges citation for DPS was "DPS International is a supplier of vehicle routing and scheduling software, the LogiX suite is based on a wealth of experience in logistics consulting. Now in its 25th year, the West Midlands based company has recently launched a web version of LogiX, called logixcentral. In addition to the usual benefits of LogiX, such as reduction in mileage, fuel, vehicles and hence carbon footprint, logixcentral offers the convenience of web access and its pay-as-you-use pricing system makes it viable for smaller companies."
Paul Palmer, CEO and founder of DPS, said: "These awards are particularly welcome in our silver-jubilee year. They show that DPS is still at the forefront of freight transport planning after a quarter of a century. They also acknowledge that the Internet is the way forward for such applications and this also opens the market for new sectors, particularly in the service sector, and for smaller companies who cannot afford traditional desktop solutions"
Earlier this year logixcentral was named Web Based Vehicle Scheduling Solution of 2007 by the Institute of Transport Management.
Best Vehicle Routing System 2007

DPS International awarded Best Vehicle Routing System 2007 by Institute of Transport Management
Given the complexity of managing all modes of transport today, with increasing time and scheduling limitations, vehicle routing and scheduling is critical in successful logistics execution. The emergence of technologies and information systems allowing for seamless mobile and wireless connectivity between delivery vehicles and distribution facilities is paving the way for innovative approaches to real-time vehicle routing and distribution management.
Fleet managers have discovered how essential it is, in effective fleet management, to have a system which provides real-time control and scheduling systems that determine the vehicle routing plan based on the current status of the system. As a result of the in-depth research conducted in this area, the Institute has found that DPS's vehicle routing software, LogiX, does just this.
DPS International was established in 1982 and is primarily known as a vehicle scheduling and routing software supplier. They provide services such as transport and logistics consultancy, vehicle scheduling software and in-cab control and monitoring systems.
DPS's scheduling system, LogiX, allows fleet management to ensure that significant fleet objectives are being met effectively. For instance, having an inter-connected communications network system allows the operator to minimize the total distance that must be travelled through interactive scheduling. Secondly, it allows for a balance of workload among employees, as much as possible, through the interactive monitoring of the fleet en-route.
Aside from DPS's standard vehicle routing system, DPS also recognises a significant market niche for a web-based, transaction cost-based version of their LogiX product (a transport and logistics planning solution). And hence have launched the "logixcentral" product as a pay-as-you-go pricing model. This cost-based product approach allows smaller companies to reap the benefits of a vehicle scheduling tool, which previously may have been too costly a product to warrant purchasing for a company of their size. One of the main attractions is the fact that there is no need for capital expenditure, onlgoing maintenance and support costs nor for costly upgrades.
It is product innovation and market responsiveness like this that makes it hardly surprising that DPS are the market-leaders in providing software solutions for both inbound and outbound transport and logistics planning. Thus, making them deserving winners of the "Best Vehicle Routing System 2007" ITM Award.
Commenting on the Research Report and DPS's success in this award category, Mr. Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director for the Institute said: "DPS provide an invaluable service to clients who want to overcome traditional logistics scheduling obstacles and fully maximise all the information available on their travel routes in order to make the best decisions for themselves and/or their business and improve traffic fluency. The proven trustworthiness of the company, coupled with the innovative approach to launching new products in response to growing market needs makes them the ideal candidate for this award."
Mr Sheedy concluded by saying: "DPS's great experience as an information provider has stood up to scrutiny and in our opinion, has out-performed its rivals in every criterion examined. For my part I would like to congratulate all at the company on their success and wish them continued success in the future."
